ABSTRACT
This study was conducted to investigate relations of the family environment and the maternal parenting attitude to children\'s attention deficit-hyperactivity score. The subjects were 186 4- to 5-year old preschoolers and their mothers. Three instruments were used : HOME for family environment, MBRI for maternal parenting attitude, and DSM-Ⅳ for children\'s inclination of attention deficit-hyperactivity. As expected, there were significant negative relations between the emotionally warm and developmentally stimulating familial environment and children\'s attention deficit-hyperactivity score. In addition, the maternal affectionate/rejective parenting attitude was significantly negatively/positively related to children\'s attention deficit-hyperactivity score, each respectively. Some limitations of the study and suggestions for future research were discussed.
