ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to investigate the paths of the related variables that exert an influence upon the internet delinquencies of adolescents. 1366 middle and high school students located in the Seoul area provided the data used for this study. Based on General theory and Social bond theory, both of which are known as the main juvenile delinquency theories, the research model was composed and analyzed through structural equation model. The results are as follows: Impulsiveness directly and indirectly had an influence on the increase in internet delinquency, using the level of internet use as a mediator. This result strongly supports General Theory as an explanatory factor in internet delinquency. However, Social Bond Theory was not applicable because social bond factors like family relationships and school adjustment do not have any influence on internet delinquency. From these results, it can be suggested that programs for promoting the self-regulation of adolescents and controlling the level of using internet use are useful ways of intervening and protecting those vulnerable to internet delinquency.
