ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between Selection, Optimization, and Compensation(SOC) Strategies and burnout in child care teachers. The subjects of this study were 263 child care teachers in Seoul. Data were analyzed by means, standard deviation, Cronbach\'s α tests, Pearson\'s Correlations, and canonical correlation analyses. The results showed that: (1) The scores of child care teachers\' Selection, Optimization, and Compensation(SOC) Strategies and Burnout were higher than the mean score. (2) There was a significant negative correlation between Selection, Optimization, and Compensation(SOC) Strategies and Burnout. (3) Canonical correlation analysis indicated that Compensation and Elective Selection were the most powerful predictors of Burnout. Other significant factors were Optimization and Loss-based Selection. Emotional exhaustion was the most influential Burnout factor along with the Lack of Personal Achievement and Dehumanization factor.
