ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to classify career identity status using Vocational Identity Status
Assessment(VISA), Berzonsky's(1992) identity style inventory, and narrative identity questionnaires. We
also investigated the effects of individuals’ career identity status on career attitude maturity and career
beliefs. 243 Korean college students participated in the study. The results confirmed that VISA,
Berzonsky's Identity Style Inventory, and narrative identity were good alternative methods to identify
career identity status. Second, there were significant distinctions among vocational identity status,
Berzonsky's identity style, and narrative identity. Achievement, foreclosure and searching moratorium
status had higher scores on insight level's narrative identity. In addition, information-oriented style had
higher scores on insight level's narrative identity. Third, there were significant effects of individuals’
career identity status (VISA, Berzonsky's Identity Style Inventory, and narrative identity
questionnaires) for career attitude maturity and career beliefs. Specifically, individuals in
achievement, foreclosure and searching moratorium status had much higher scores on career attitude
maturity and career beliefs. Fourth, individuals identified as information-oriented style had the highest
scores for career attitude maturity and career beliefs, and individuals identified as higher insight level
had the highest scores for career attitude maturity and career beliefs.
