ABSTRACT

While emotion control has intrigued many developmentalists since 2000, self-report questionnaires for measuring emotion control have been criticized for their lack of theoretical pedigree and developmental continuity. The aim of this study is to develop and to validate the K-HIF (Korean HOW I FEEL) questionnaire, a self-report measure of emotional arousal and regulation originally developed by Walden et al (2003). Item translations to Korean and back-translations to English were conducted by bilingual experts, and a series of scale validation processes were administrated with 640 college students. The factor structures of Korean late adolescents\' K-HIF scores were comparable to those of American children\'s and adolescents\', and the measure overall demonstrated satisfactory reliability and validity.
