ABSTRACT

The purpose of the study was to investigate the influence mother s parenting anxiety and father’s child-rearing involvement on children’s emotion regulation in accordance with their temperament type. For the purpose of this study, 406 mothers with their child aged from 3 to 5 years old were surveyed through an online self-report questionnaire. Using SPSS 21.0, a descriptive statistical analysis, a K-means clustering, t-test, ANOVA, and a hierarchical regression analyses were conducted. The results revealed that temperament of young children was grouped as easy type and difficult type. Also, young children’s emotional regulation was negatively influenced by mother’s anxiety level; father’s involvement in recreation with their child with easy temperament increased the level of the child’s emotional regulation while father’s involvement in guidance for their child with difficult temperament leaded to higher level of emotional regulation. These results imply that there is a partial difference in predictors affecting the level of emotional regulation of young children according to the their temperament.
