The Effect of the Culture-Art Education Program on Depression, Self-Image, and Emotional Intelligence

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of the Culture-Art Education Program on depression, self-image, and emotional intelligence for children in welfare institutions. The Culture-Art Education Program consisted of various activities and instructional methods in Music, Art, Korean Traditional Music, and Dance. The treatment was implemented through 24 courses carried out over 3 months. When the depression, self-image, and emotional intelligence of the experimental and control group were compared at the end of the application, the experimental group showed significantly lower scores than the control group in terms of the depression scores. On the other hand, the experimental group showed significantly higher scores than the control group in terms of the self-image scores.
