The Relationship between Mother’s Ambivalence over Emotional Expressiveness, Parenting Behaviors and Types of Mother-children’s Communication

ABSTRACT
This research examined the relationships between ambivalence over emotional expressiveness and parenting behavior in terms of different types of mother-children’s communication(open communication, problems in communication) as perceived by the mothers. The subjects were 91 mothers. Data were analyzed by simple regression and path analysis. Our results showed that (1) The ambivalence over emotional expressiveness affected all components of mother-children’s communication. (2) The ambivalence over emotional expressiveness affected parenting behavior-logical guidance, affection, support of achievement and overprotection-. (3) The results of path analysis showed that the ambivalence over emotional expressiveness affected all components of mother-children’s communication of parenting behavior-overprotection and affection-.
