A Study on the Relationship between Family Environmental Characteristics and Health related to the Quality of life of Toddlers

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of family environmental characteristics on the
health status of toddler aged children. The data was harvested from a survey which was conducted upon
parents of five year old children, utilizing the Children Health Questionnaire - PF50. The effects of family
socio-economic, structure, general relational factors, behavioral issues, and the mental health of children
were analyzed. The results are as follows : The family relationship factors have significant effects on the
both general and behavioral health status of children. Moreover, the variable of living together with one's
grandparents influenced behavioral health status, and family structural factors impacted on the mental
health status of children. From these results, it was possible to discern a number of theoretical and
practical implications for social work practice which focuses on improving the health related quality of life
of a toddler's family. These issues were also discussed.
