The measurement of reasoning and problem solving abilities and development of enhancement programs for primary to high school students

ABSTRACT
This study was aimed to measure the development of reasoning and problem solving abilities from primary to high school students. So transitive, analogical, causative, and problem solving tests were developed and 317 students participated. Transitive reasoning performance was low when conclusion was indeterminant. Analogical performance was varied according to the difficulties of mapping processes. Complex causative reasoning performance was difficult. The results were discussed in terms of reasoning abilities and problem solving abilities.
