The Study on the Family Function, Young Children's Social Adaptation and Behavior Problems

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to find out the relationship among family function, young children's social adaptation and behavior problems. The subjects were 230 mothers and 20
teachers of children (6 to 7 years old) in childhood education center in Seoul and kyoug-gi
Province. And for the each research problem, t verification, one-way ANOVA, and two-way
ANOVA were used. Results of this study are as follow: First, There was a significant difference
in the social adaptation and behavior problems of young children according to their sex. The
boys had higher social adaptation and lower behavior problems than the girls. Second, There
was difference in young children's social adaptation according to the level of family cohesion and flexibility. Young children from the family with low cohesion and flexibility tend not to be
social adaptation. Third, There was difference in young children's behavior problems according to the level of family cohesion and flexibility. It shows that young children from the family with low cohesion and flexibility are more troublesome in general behavior problems. Forth, there is no supportive result that there is interaction between young children's sex and family function about social adaptation and behavior problems.
