Narrative Inquiry into the School Experience of Male Students Attending Middle School in Cheonghak-dong Seodang

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to examine the meaning of school experience of male students attending middle school in Cheonghak-dong Seodang through a narrative inquiry. We selected four middle school students living in Cheonghak-dong Seodang who were believed to be able to convey their experience vividly through research puzzle. The research data were collected by participant observation, research journals, field note, and transcripts from in-depth interviews. In this study, we attempted to analyze data with a three-dimensional narrative inquiry space in mind. Through the narratives released by the participants, living in a classroom with envy, peer groups by individual Seodangs, balancing in a space of crisis, feeling comfortable in discomfort, understanding school teachers, and concern about career were derived. This study is meaningful in that it provides an understanding of their middle school adjustment process and raises social consideration for the students.
