ABSTRACT

This study deals with the experience of social positioning of woman from a local university. In the patriarchal and academic culture of Korea, the meaning and reflection of woman’s social positioning experience from a local university were shown through autoethnography. We provided a new perspective and understanding to those who live by setting their own limits according to the sociocultural environment. To this end, various data were collected, and major categories were derived through data analysis based on feminist counseling theory as a lens that can understand experience. As a result, it was found that through ‘Life of stereotypes’, people were living a life of stereotypes by limiting what they could do due to the socio-cultural environment of Korea. Through ‘Life preparing for change’, we could look at society from various perspectives, recognize experience as unfamiliar, and prepare for change by reflecting on Korea’s socio-cultural prejudice. Through ‘Life as the subject of life,’ he did not set his limits and could live life as the subject of life through recovery and growth. This study aims to contribute to understanding the dynamics of those who are suffering from socio-cultural prejudices in Korea and providing the possibility of change.
