A Study on Relationship between Attachment Anxiety and SNS Addiction Proneness of University Students: The Dual Mediation Effects of Self-Esteem and Self-Control

ABSTRACT
This study aims to identify the mediating effect of self-esteem and self-control in the relationship between attachment anxiety and SNS addiction proneness in university students. To achieve this purpose, the research questions are as follows. What is the relationship between attachment anxiety, self-esteem, self-control, and SNS addiction proneness in university students? Do self-esteem and self-control have a dual mediation effect in the relationship between attachment anxiety and SNS addiction proneness? To analyze this, a survey was conducted inon 341 university students in Daejeon Metropolitan City and the South Chungcheong Province region, and the collected data were analyzed by SPSS 19.0 and AMOS 18.0. The main findings of this study are as follows. First, attachment anxiety had correlated positively with SNS addiction proneness. Self-esteems and self-control had correlated negatively with SNS addiction proneness. Also, a sequential dual mediating model showed that the effect of attachment anxiety had noted direct and indirect effects on SNS addiction proneness through self-esteem and self-control. This study is significant in that it suggests that there is a need to make develop a comprehensive understanding of and approach to counseling and training about SNS addiction problems for university students.
