ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of playfulness, surface or deep acting of emotional labor on childcare teachers’ burnout in a path model. The subjects were 245 teachers working at childcare centers in Gyeongsangbuk-do. Questionnaires were used to investigate playfulness, surface or deep acting of emotional labor and burnout. The collected data were analyzed by structural equation modeling(SEM), bootstrapping, Pearson correlation, using AMOS 20.0, and SPSS 21.0. The results of the study analyzing the structural equation model are as follows. First, teachers’ playfulness had a negative influence on burnout. Second, teachers’ playfulness had a negative influence on surface acting. Third, teachers’ playfulness had a positive influence on deep acting. Fourth, teach-ers’ surface acting had a positive influence on burnout. Fifth, teachers’ deep acting had a negative influence on burnout. Sixth, teachers’ playfulness had an indirect effect on burn-out by surface or deep acting of emotional labor. This study suggests that it is necessary to promote the expression of teachers’ playfulness and to support deep acting of emo-tional labor in a childcare center in order to prevent teachers’ burnout.
