ABSTRACT
The purpose of the study was to develop and examine the psychometric properties of the Caregiver Satisfaction with the Multicultural Family Support Service for the Child’s Korean Language Development Questionnaire (CSQ). The CSQ was designed to address key elements of the caregivers’ satisfaction with the service provided for the children in multicultural families in Korea in terms of their Korean language development. Over 1,700 caregivers of children taking the Korean Language Development Service Program at the Multicultural Family Support Center participated in phone interviews in 2012. A series of exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses revealed a stable, 3-factor solution reflecting the satisfaction with the outcome of the service, the instructor, and the overall quality of the service. Criterion-related validity was also supported with the perceived social support scale. Retest reliability and internal consistency of the CSQ were excellent. In view of its strong psychometric properties, the CSQ has the potential to serve as a brief, cost-effective assessment tool for evaluating the satisfaction of caregivers of children in multicultural families with the Korean language development service provided by the Multicultural Family Support Centers.
