A Study on the development of the Social Intelligence Test for children

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to develop the Social Intelligences Test(SIT) for the elementary school children. First, SIT composed of 109 questions which was developed through overall review of social intelligence. SIT of 109 questions administered t0 1,000 elementary school children for pilot study. Results of pilot study 60 questions were selected. Second, SIT of 60 questions administered t0 2,900 elementary school children and 48 questions obtained. Results of this study were analyzed using SAS. First, social intelligence consists of two separate level and four factor : Crystallized social intelligence includes social knowledge, and Fluid social intelligence includes social sensitivity, social expressivity, and social fluidity. Second, coefficient alpha reliabilities ranged from .76 to .83 and test-retest reliabilities ranged from .78 to .84. Validity of SIT scale showed through content validity and construct validity. Based on these results, usability of social intelligence test scale for the purpose of understanding children, limitation of this study, and the future research in this area were discussed.
