ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between Emotional Intelligence and promotion in organizations. Based on literature, Emotional Intelligence is an important factor which determines one\'s success in social life and performance in organizations. To explore the effect of Emotional Intelligence, 190 newcomers\' Emotional Intelligence was measured at the entry, and a follow-up survey was conducted to track their current positions after seven years of work. The Emotional Intelligence model that was used in the study consists of five components: emotional appraisal, emotional expression, empathy, emotional utilization, and emotional regulation. Results show that empathy is positively correlated with the level of employee\'s current position, and emotional expression is negatively correlated with the level of the employee\'s current position. When the scores of emotional intelligence were compared between drop-outs within one or two years and the employees who remained in the organization, there was no significant difference.
