ABSTRACT
This study investigated the causal relations between boy\'s and gir\'sl mother\'s perceived social support and stress, child\'s temperament, and mother\'s parenting behaviors including a mediational role of Korean mother\'s parenting self-efficacy. The participant were 404 Korean children(189 boys and 215 girls) and 404 their mothers living in Seoul, Korea. Results showed that mother\'s parenting self-efficacy of boy was positively related to mother\'s Warmth- Acceptance and negatively related to mother\'s Rejection-Restriction. Mother\'s parenting self-efficacy of girl was positively related to mother\'s Warmth-Acceptance and negatively related to mother\'s Rejection-Restriction and Permissiveness-Nonintervention. Structural equation modeling indicated that mother\'s parenting self-efficacy of boy was a significant mediator of the relation between mother\'s perceived social support and child temperament, and mother\'s parenting behaviors including Warmth-Acceptance, Rejection- Restriction. Mother\'s parenting self-efficacy of girl was a significant mediator of the relation between mother\'s perceived social support and mother\'s parenting behaviors including Warmth-Acceptance, Rejection-Restriction, and Permissiveness-Nonintervention. Also child\'s temperament had direct effect on mother\'s Permissiveness-Nonintervention of girl.
